Welcome to the

International Reformed FellowshipHeidelberg

A Reformed, Bible-centred Christian community from many nations, gathering in the Heidelberg area to worship the triune God together.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19–20

    About us

A home for believers from every nation

The International Reformed Fellowship Heidelberg is a community of Christians – students, families and professionals – from many countries who live in Heidelberg and the surrounding region, whether for a season or for a lifetime.

We gather to hear God’s Word faithfully preached, to worship Him in spirit and in truth, and to care for one another in love. Our faith stands in the tradition of the Protestant Reformation – a heritage closely tied to this very city, where the Heidelberg Catechism was written in 1563.

Whether you have followed Christ for many years, are new to the faith, or are simply curious – you are warmly welcome.

    God’s Word

Holy Scripture is our highest authority for faith and life.

    Worship

We worship the triune God with reverence and joy.

    Fellowship

We share life together as one family in Christ.

    Prayer Meeting

    Sundays · 15:00

We come together before the throne of grace to pray for one another, for the church and for the world.

    What we believe

    Our Confession

We confess the historic Christian faith as summarised in the ecumenical creeds and the Reformed confessions. We do not place them above Scripture; we hold them because they faithfully summarise what Scripture teaches.

What is your only comfort in life and in death?

That I am not my own, but belong – body and soul, in life and in death – to my faithful Saviour, Jesus Christ.
    Heidelberg Catechism, Question & Answer 1 (1563)

    Ecumenical Creeds

With the Church of all ages we confess:

    • Nicene Creed (325 / 381)
    • Chalcedonian Definition (451)
    • Apostles’ Creed

    Reformed Confessions

Together with Reformed churches worldwide, we hold to:

    • Belgic Confession (1561)
A clear summary of the doctrines of the Christian faith.
    • Heidelberg Catechism (1563)
Written in Heidelberg – a warm, personal teaching of the gospel in 129 questions and answers.
    • Westminster Confession of Faith (1646)
A careful and comprehensive summary of the whole system of biblical doctrine.

    Covenant Theology

We believe that the infinite, eternal and holy God has condescended to humankind and established fellowship with His people by way of covenant.

Out of His mere good pleasure, God from all eternity chose a people for Himself and entered into a covenant of grace, to deliver them out of sin and misery and to bring them into salvation by a Redeemer – Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son.
